Description
This badge was produced in 2001 for the International Fund for Animal Welfare. The fund works to improve the welfare of wild and domestic animals throughout the world and to motivate the public to prevent animal cruelty. The government attempted to ban hunting in 2001 despite opposition from the Countryside Alliance, which has continually campaigned for the right to hunt since 1997. The Hunting Act (2004), which came into force on 18 February 2005, prohibits all hunting of wild mammals with dogs in England and Wales, except in special circumstances, and all hare coursing. The Scottish Parliament banned hunting in Scotland in February 2002.
