Description
An election poster designed to look like a film advertisement. 'The Tories Present: Economic Disaster II. Coming To A Home, Hospital, School And Business Near You. Starring Michael Portillo As Mr Boom. William Hague As Mr Bust.' Michael Portillo and William Hague - two white men in suits - are pictured in the top right of the poster, looking embarrassed next to a notice designed to look like a film rating certificate which says '1990 interest rates: 15%'.

After losing the 1997 general election to Tony Blair's Labour Party, the Conservative Party re-grouped under new leader William Hague. Hague is featured in these Labour posters along with shadow Chancellor Michael Portillo. The posters suggest that allowing the Conservatives to form a government will be an economic disaster, and references inflation rates under the previous Conservative government led by John Major from 1990-1997.

Labour retained its huge majority at the 2001 general election, and remained in government until 2010.
