OutRage! was a grassroots non-violent direct action group formed in May 1990 and active until 2011. It was formed in response to two things: the increasing homophobic violence, in particular the murder of Michael Boothe in London; and a rise in GBQ+ men being arrested and convicted for consensual behaviour. Its aims were to assert the human rights of LGBTQIA people; to fight homophobia, discrimination and violence; and to affirm rights to sexual freedom and self-determination.
