Description
The first major military front of World War II was in Communist Russia, following Hitler's massive invasion of Russia in June 1941. The Communist Party of Great Britain produced a wide range of leaflets in their campaign to get the Allied forces to attack and defeat Hitler in Europe, to open what was called a Second Front, and aid Russia. The party had an active membership in industrial Manchester and Lancashire.

'More tanks, planes and guns' was the call in Britain's manufacturing towns. The factory workers of Manchester's Trafford Park played an important part in supplying not only Britain's air, land and sea forces but also supplied the Russian war effort. Thousands of crucial electrical generators were produced in Trafford Park for Russia's cities.
