Description
This banner was made by a member of the Women's Co-operative Guild, founded in 1889. The Guild slowly grew into a powerful women's movement, despite the family and housekeeping responsibilities of working-class women.

The overall control of the WCG rested with the Annual Meeting. In 1900 the Meeting formally assumed the Status of Congress, which it has retained to this day.

Materials: Ground fabric of cotton sateen with machine embroidered decoration.
