Description
The combination of union jack, the colour red, and the trinity of slogans make this banner a particularly difficult one to identify. One possibility may be that it was made or adapted by the Communist Party of Great Britain in 1945 following the defeat of Nazi Germany.
The donor of the banner bought it at a flea market, upper Gardner Street Saturday Market, Brighton, in 1989 and gave it to the museum in 1994.
Materials: Made from a previous flag or banner; fine plain woven cotton; twill woven crimson cotton.
