Description
Formerly known as the Democratic Federation, the Social Democratic Federation was established in 1884 and continued until 1939.

The banner was made at George Tutill's works in City Road, London. The factory was there from around 1859 until it was damaged in the Blitz of 1940. The references to "Justice" may be due to the Democratic Federation's journal 'Justice', produced between 1884 and 1925.

On 27 February 1900, the Social Democratic Federation was involved in the establishment of the Labour Representation Committee which was renamed the Labour party in 1906.

Materials: single layer of fine silk rep with oil-painted image on each side and replacement silk borders.
