Description
The origins of the Amalgamted Union of Engineering Workers go back to 1851 with the formation of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, Machinists, Smiths, Millwrights and Pattern-Makers. The AUEW was established in 1970 by an amalgamation of the Foundry Workers, the Draughtsmen and Allied Technicians Association, and the Constuctional Engineering Union
