Description
The banner was commissioned by NALGO in 1977 to mark the union's 75th anniversary in 1980. Designed by Ken Sprague, a leading British trade union artist, it was made by Pat Meaden, the designer's sister.
The design had its roots in the badge designed for NALGO in its early years. The sun and moon represent round-the-clock work by NALGO members in all their public services.
In 1993 NALGO merged with the other public service unions, the National Union Of Public Employees and Confederation Of Health Service Employees to form UNISON.
Materials: padded applied work embroidery in mixed fabrics and threads.
