Description
A red poster with a repeating background of a Black person's hands tied behind their back. White text reads: "FREE NAMIBIA! FREE SOUTH AFRICA! SANCTIONS NOW!"

This poster was made by the anti-apartheid movement in the UK, calling for the British government to impose financial sanctions on South African and Namibian goods (such as coal) in order to protest apartheid.

Apartheid was a system in South Africa which meant that racial segregation was enforced by law. South Africa also extended these laws over to Namibia (then South West Africa), one of the last countries in Africa to gain independence. Apartheid formally ended in South Africa in 1990, followed by Namibia gaining independence.
