The O.M.A., the Angolan Women's Organisation, was formed at the first conference for the People's Movement for Liberation of Angola (Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola, MPLA) in 1962 held in Kinshasa, DR Congo. The O.M.A. was a paramilitary organisation to support the MPLA freedom fighters and to educate and organise women in Angola.
