Description
A pen and ink sketch of people in tin helmets clearing rubble from a bomb damaged site. Fragments of the collapsed building are recognisable. Bodies are being removed from the rubble.


Cliff Rowe drew this pen and ink sketch some time between 1940-1941, depicting the Battle of Britain.

The Battle of Britain was an attempt by Nazi Germany to invade Britain and involved the mass bombing of Britain's military and industrial infrastructure. This resulted in thousands of civilian casualties in towns and cities across the UK.
