Description
A round green badge with a pink triangle in the centre and text which reads: "L G S M LESBIANS GAY MEN SUPPORT THE MINERS. 1984-1985" This badge was produced by Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM), a group of LGBT people who set up a campaign to raise funds and show solidarity for miners who went on strike between 1984 and 1985.
The badge was designed by Jonathan Blake, and the choice of design was voted on by LGSM members during one of their meetings in 1985.
According to LGSM committee meeting minutes held at PHM's archive ([NMLH.LHASC: ref LGSM /1/1-- 3/14; LGSM/3/5 -- 5/2], the creation of the original print run for this badge was funded by the Manchester LGSM group.
