Description
A red banner with gold lettering displaying the name and mottos of the union. There are white ribbon shaped text boxes above and below the union's coat of arms in the centre of the banner.

In 1921 two separate unions, the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners and the General Union of Carpenters and Joiners, merged to form the Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers. This banner belonged to the Manchester District of the union.

The union originally represented skilled woodworkers. However, changes in technology led to the introduction of less technically specialist skilled members. It was one of several unions that joined together in 1970 to form the Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians (UCATT).
