Lord Bute's head in Boot, an axe to its right; reverse side: bust of Lotd Bute ? Is in poor condition, but sufficiently discernible relief design; lettering not discernible.
This collection of political tokens and medals (accession number NMLH.1993.371) was purchased in 1991 with Financial assistance from the MGC Purchase Grant Fund which the Victoria & Albert Museum administered on behalf of the Museum And Galleries Commission.
John Wilkes medal, 1762
This commemorates the satirising of the Earl of Bute by Wilkes. You can make out the shape of a boot.
