Description
A yellow banner with embroidered features including the red rose of Lancashire and the red lion crest of the Egerton family. The banner has 'Ye Old Trafford Habitation' written in black lettering diagonally across it.

This banner belonged to the Ye Old Trafford Habitation, or branch, of The Primrose League. This was a Conservative grass roots organisation formed in 1883 by followers of Benjamin Disraeli, the British Prime Minister who had died two years previously. They named themselves the Primrose League after Disraeli's favourite flower. By 1910 the Primrose League had two million members. The style of this Old Trafford Habitation banner suggests the traditional values which the League sought to promote. The imagery includes the red rose of Lancashire and the badge of the influential Egerton family.

This banner was conserved in the museums Textile Conservation Studio in 1998.
