Description
A medal produced in 1832 to celebrate the passing of the Great Reform Act. The Great Reform act, or the First Reform Act, brought limited parliamentry reform by disenfranchising 56 'rotton' boroughs in England and Wales, created 67 new constituencies for new towns such as Manchester and Birmingham and extended the vote to all men who owned property over £10. For many, the reform did not go far enough and the call for further change continued over the decades to come.
