Description
Friendly Society Memorabilia collected by Peter Gosden of the University of Leeds. Gosden was the author of 'The Friendly Societies in England, 1815-1875' (Manchester University Press, 1961) and 'Self Help- Voluntary Associations in Nineteenth Century Britain' (Studies in Economic and Socieal History, 1973). The collection was presented to the museum in March 2016.
Mug reads: 'We are Oddfellows. When we act and Do the thing which is right'. and 'May friendship reign, And discord cease, And all Oddfellows, live in Peace.'
