Description
Hand-drawn placard, reading 'Let's Keep Life on Earth'. Underneath the writing is a hand-drawn image of a green tree frog - a design referencing the David Attenborough nature documentary television series 'Life on Earth'.

The placard was designed and made to be completely plastic-free, using crayon, recycled cardboard and paper tape.

This placard was used on the general strike for climate, in September 2019, when adults were asked and encouraged to join students on their 'Fridays for Future' protests.

The back of the placard includes a hand-written account from the maker, and the train tickets used to attend the strike.

Reverse reads: Made by: Sara Kightley - 19/09/2019. Age: 32. (3 hours hand drawn). Material: Colouring crayons, ink (green) paper tape, upcycled/reused (plastic free) cardboard from post packaging. Image: copied from David Attenborough's book (front cover image) "Life on Earth". Meaning for strike image: image choice because of location of climate strike, outside Manchester Central Library. I am an author & illustrator, I appreciate knowledge from writen works. I have followed Attenborough's work in TV/broadcasting since a young child. I respect him greatly and his efforts to inspire environmental change. His book Life on Earth looks at 3,500 millions years of Natural history - its taken such time and effort to create life on Earth, Now we are destroying all this history, all this life. I hope we can change in time. So we can save what we have left.
