Tariff Reform poster, 1905
Colour poster published by the Free Trade Union. The poster shows a woman and young girl standing in front of the larder, which is labelled 'Free Trade Cupboard'. A hand comes in from the right side of the image, labelled 'Tariff Reform'. Underneath the imahe reads "Shall tariff reform rob your cupboard?' and above, 'Stop Thief!'
The poster was published by the Free Trade Union, a British trade organisation which was formed in 1903. The organisation lobbied for Free Trade and opposed the campaign for imperial preference, which had been launched by Joseph Chamberlain in 1903.
