Description
Poster, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution, printed by the Parti Communiste Francais, 1957

The poster shows an image of Vladimir Lenin speaking at a podium labelled 1917, in front of a V shape of yellow; the remainder of the poster is red. Above Lenin is the Hammer and Sickle - the icon of the Soviet Union. To the left of the V shape is a factory scene, and to the right is an image of a ploughed field, leading to three tower blocks and, in the background, the towers of the Kremlin can be seen.

The imagery included references the bringing together of the peasants and proletariat, which was an important component of soviatism, but also includes an allusion to modern progression through the inclusion of high-rise towers.

At the top of the poster, over an image of wheat, reads "Vive Le 40e Anniversaire de la Revolution d'October Vive le Communisme!" [translated: long live the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution. Long live Communism!]. The poster was printed by the Parti Communiste Francais (PCF) in 1957, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution.
