Description
Second poster in a set of two, "The Empuire Loaves.", 1910

A man, woman and girl look into a shop window where they can see a loaf of bread. A noticeboard above says "Chamberlain's loaf made from British wheat". Underneath the image reads, 'Prosperous Workman:- "There's the LITTLE LOAD they said was coming, and it don't look a bit smaller, after all; but if you want more, missus, buy two, and hang the expense".

This side of the poster had two purposes; first, by centering of the prosperous worker, compared to the unemployed worker on the first poster, it suggests that Tariff Reform would be better for working men (and so their families) than Free Trade. Secondly, the bread is a comment on opposing posters created for the Free Trade supporters, which suggested that Tariff Reform would contribute to "smaller loaves".
