Description
A large green poster featuring the shadow of a German soldier behind a child playing with sand. Yellow text at the bottom reads "Mutter, lasst Eure Kinder leben! Wahlt die Kandidaten des Friedens!" roughly translated as: "Mothers, let your children live! Elect the candidates of peace!" This poster was produced by the People's Electoral Committee of the National Front of the Democratic Germany. This was an alliance of political parties under the German Democratic Republic (GDR, also known as 'East Germany') following the division of Germany following WWII. The GDR was a communist state run by the Socialist Unity Party (SED) and they held elections where voters could either accept or reject the coalition of parties, which first had to be approved by the SED.
