Description
A large green poster advertising the Daily Worker's Christmas Bazaar, around 1935. The Daily Worker (now the Morning Star) was set up by the Communist Party of Great Britain in 1930, as an alternative press to mainstream news outlets. It is the longest running socialist publication in the UK. The Daily Worker often hosted 'bazaars' which everyone was invited to; they would have stalls selling handmade items and entertainment, followed by a meal. This poster advertises their Christmas Bazaar and features a coloured illustration of a man dressed as Santa with three children running around his legs. There is a decorated Christmas tree in the background. Black and white text reads: "Daily Worker Christmas Bazaar". There is a white box in the lower right hand corner of the poster which has been written inside with purple paint; "THIS WAY / NOW ON" with an arrow pointing right. The poster has crease marks where it has been folded and some paper near the middle is fragile. There are tears around the edges and dirt where the crease lines are.
