The badge was made by campaign group 'High Hopes for High Peak', an independent campaign group with no affiliation to a particular political party, who campaigned to remove the sitting Conservative MP in the general election. They succeeded in 2017 when Ruth George was elected MP for High Peak, representing Labour. George lost the seat again in 2019, when it went back to the Conservatives.
