Description
A plastic button badge produced by the National Union of Mineworkers during the 1984-1985 miner's strike, reading "Coal not dole", Kay Sutcliffe wrote the poem 'coal not dole' in 1984 about her husband losing his job due to pit closures and the title since became a popular slogan during the strike.
The badge is white with "Coal not dole" printed in large black letters in the middle. "National Union of Mineworkers" is printed in smaller text along the top of the badge, The badge has a metal backing with a pin to fasten it.
