This is a white poster with red text advertising an event with speaker Dr J Jeffery against the testing of hydrogen bombs, around 1957. The text reads "We must stop all H Bomb tests / Hear Dr. J. Jeffery at the Town Hall Fulham Brdway. Wednesday June19th *p.m. / Adm free All Welcome Organised by Fulham & Chelsea Communist Parties" Hydrogen bombs were first tested in the UK in 1957, under Anthony Eden's government during the Cold War. The detonation of Hydrogen bombs sparked the CND (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament) movement in the UK, one of the biggest peace movements to date. The Communist Party often campaigned alongisde the CND for the UK to take a stand against the development and deployment of nuclear weapons, within its borders and also more generally. A stamp at the bottom reads "Louis Tendeter, 340 Hackney Road, London, E.R. Phone Shoreditch 7330" Condition: there is a small tear near the 'Dr', crease marks where it has
been folded.
