Description
A white poster with a green border and yellow and green text promoting the People's March for Jobs in 1983. The People's March for Jobs was a march in protest of Margaret Thatcher's government, which had seen unemployment soar. 15-20,000 people took part in the March for Jobs in 1983, supported by trade unions and the Labour Party. The march had two routes; one that started in Glasgow and one that started in Land's End, Cornwall. Upon arrival in London, rallies were held, dring which Michael Foot, then-leader of the Labour Party, spoke to those gathered. This poster features a yellow square at the top reading "People's march for jobs '83' in green with a cartoon stretch of road. Underneath reads "UNEMPLOYMENT". In the main body of the poster, large green letters read "We demand a future". The poster was published by the People's March for Jobs
in 1983 and printed by Birmingham Printers. Condition: good
