Description
This is a large screen-printed poster - it predominantly white, green and red. It is advertising a festival - the top of the poster says "Challenge Festival 78" in red text on a green background. The main background of the poster has lots of different words and themes, relating to music, anti-racism, and other aspects displayed at the festival - this text is in green and red. There is an image in the centre of the poster of a person holding a guitar, attached to this it says "Tickets.. 1 Day Only. 1 gig only. 1.75 the lot." The bottom right of the poster says "Reductions for students, and claimants." Next to this there is a red star, which represents the Communist Party. Around the image of the person holding the guitar it says "Charlton House. Greenwich. London. Saturday May 13th. S.E.7." 1978 was a prominent year for protest, and coincides with the rise of "Rock Against Racism", which was a grassroots anti-racist movement inspired by music. This festival may have been inspired by
Rock Against Racism. The poster is an advertisement of the Challenge Festival. The poster is in good condition.
