Description
A poster featuring a colour screen-print of a painting by Anton Refregier, a US artist. The print depicts the 1934 strike by longshoremen who walked out of work in the West Coast ports of the US. The strike lasted eighty-three days and peaked with the death of two workers on "Bloody Thursday" and the general strike that followed. The result of the strike gave unionisation to all West Coast workers. The print shows workers reaching out to take wages from a man in a suit, money changing hands, and a crowd of workers at a rally, where one worker points to the distance next to a sign saying 'UNITY'. Newspaper reports to the right reads "STRIKE WON", below which the artist's signature can be read. This is print 50/100
