Description
The second part of a comic strip by cartoonist 'Hob-Nob' titled 'The Front Line'. The first panel features a man, woman, and child running as an air raid siren blasts. In the second panel they are stopped from entering a shelter by a guard- the shelter is labelled "PRIVATE". The third panel shows them running past another shelter which is labelled "SHELTER FULL". The fourth shows them pointing as they see another shelter close to them. In the fifth they are running inside the shelter. In the sixth they realise the shelter hasn't been fully dug and they are exposed. Handwriting near the top of the comic reads "Please return 2pm Thursday 'Daily Worker' Lime" underneath the title of the comic strip and artist is written "The Front Line by Hob Nob" The number nine has been written, circled, and then crossed out. More markings on the page indicate pencil drawings of the comic panel. Writing near the bottom reads "Stall, fair, and the ... " Measurements have been drawn along the left hand side of the comic strip, labelled '6 1/2 " between front' and at the bottom '2 " 8', which has been crossed out. The comic strip has been placed inside a plastic sleeve for conservation purposes as it is old and yellowed with the edges tearing in some places.
