Description
This is a poster featuring a print of the work 'Neapolitan Peasants' by Thomas Unwins (engraved by Samuel Sangster), 1838. The print shows a woman, holding a basket of fruit on her head, walking with two young women, three children, and one dog. Two of the children are carrying a pole on their shoulders between them with bunches of grapes and other fruits attached. Writing underneath reads "Neapolitan Peasants going to the Hesta of the Pie de Grotts / Engraved from the original picture in the collection of The Right Honourable The Earl of Normanton / To whom this print is by special permission most respectfully dedicated by his Lordship's Obliged Servants E. & W. Finden" The print has a significant tear down the middle and looks to be stained with something, possibly mould. Rips and tears are prominent along the edges.
