Description
A large red poster featuring a photograph of the Chilean Coup d'etat on September 11, 1973. The poster is in Greek and is titled "Support for the people of Chile", underneath an excerpt from Pablo Neruda's poem 'Las Uvas y el Viento/Grapes and the Wind" is copied out in Greek. Pablo Neruda was a Chilean poet and diplomat; he wrote this poem after fleeing Chile in the 1950's due to his communist beliefs putting him in danger. Here the poem is being used over 20 years later to reflect upon the fall of Salvador Allende's socialist Popular Unity government after a military coup by advisor General Pinochet. The poster was published by Riga.
