Description
A small white poster with a still life drawing of fruit and tinned products labelled 'South Africa'. There are bullet holes in the food items from which blood leaks down tward the bottom of the poster. Text at the top reads "Dit is Apartheid" (English translation "This is Apartheid") whilst smaller text underneath reads "Pik 't Niet" (English translation: "Don't pick it"). Underneath the image at the bottom of the poster text reads "Boycot Zudafrikaanse Produkten" (English translation: Boycott South African products"). This poster was produced by the International Confederation of Free Trade Association during Apartheid in South Africa, a system of institutionalised racial segregation that existed from 1948 until the early 1990's. Many individuals as well as organisations refused to buy products from South Africa during this period as a way to protest the system of Apartheid and show solidarity with the majority Black population. This poster is estimated to be from around 1990.
