Large colourful poster - shows colourful shapes, lines and people with their hands up. Mainly yellow, red, orange and blue colours. Says "Festo do Avante!, altobda ajuda Lisboa, 4,5 e 6, Setembro 1981." This translates to "Avante! Festival", "Alto da Ajuda Lisboa, 4th, 5th, 6th of September 1981." This poster is advertising the Avante festival which was started in 1976 by the Portugese Communist Party, and is named after the party's official newspaper, Avante!. The festival usually sees hundreds of thousands of visitors, making the outside of the ground appear like a gigantic camping park. The festival consists of a three-day music festival, with the participation of hundreds of Portuguese and international bands and artists in five different stages, ethnography, gastronomy, debates, a book & music fair, theatre (Avanteatro), cinema (Cineavante) and sporting events. Several foreign communist parties also participate. Poster is in good condition.
