This t-shirt was made to celebrate Nelson Mandela visiting Brixton in 1996. Nelson Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and political leader who served as the first president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. His visit to Brixton was lauded as a very meaningful and symbolic appearance as he went to show solidarity with the Black populaton after police killed a Black man, Wayne Douglas, a year earlier.
