Description
A pink sticker reading 'Vote Elvis' in large black text. Smaller text beneath reads 'Sid Shaw X, Elvisly Yours, Elvis Presley Party'.

These stickers were produced for the Chesterfield by-election in 1984, and printed by Taingold Ltd in London. Following the resignation of Labour MP Eric Varley, a by-election was held in the Chesterfield constituency to elect a new Member of Parliament. Sid Shaw formed the Elvis Presley Party in 1984 as a frivolous political party in order to run against Labour MP Tony Benn and provide voters with an alternative to voting for one of the larger political parties.

The Elvis Presley Party then formed an alliance with the Monster Raving Loony Party during the by-election, and the two parties held their election press conference in a fish and chip shop. At the end of the election, Tony Benn was elected MP for Chesterfield.
