Description
This portfolio collection is 1/4 of a larger collection of fifty posters produced for the Italian Socialist Party (PSI) from 1892 to 1970. This part consists of 12 posters produced for the PSI publication 'Avanti!' (meaning "Forward!" in English) between 1986 and 1905. This poster features an image of a centaur holding a bow and arrow, with text at the bottom reading "Avanti! Daily socialist newspaper Milan" Information about subscription prices are also at the bottom of the poster. This image became one of Avanti!'s most famous illustrations and was used as a front page as well as to promote the newspaper elsewhere. The original design was likely made around 1906 and has been reproduced for this portfolio.
