A postcard featuring a photograph from 1909, two women sat on a cart being pulled by a horse with banners and signs reading "VOTES FOR WOMEN" Text on the back reads: "Advertising a Suffragette meeting / Members of the Women's Social and Political Union (suffragettes) developed a sophisticated and effective campaign to draw attention to the Liberal Government's lack of action on votes for women. Publicity gimmicks like this one were used a great deal to advertise their activities."
