Will Paynter was a Welsh Miners' leader, and was involved in the Welsh hunger marches in the 1930s. He joined the International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War in 1937, and was President of the South Wales Miners' Federation in the 1950s, and General Secretary of the National Union of Mineworkers in the 1960s.
