Inti-illimani was a musical group formed in Chile in 1967 when the band-mates were in University. They gained popularity in Chile for their song 'Venceremos' (We Shall Win!), which was used by the Popular Unity government of Salvador Allende. The band were on tour during the 1973 coup d'etat, and were unable to return to Chile, where their music was banned by the incoming military Junta. They took up residence in Italy during their exile.
