Description
Poster, advertising an evening event, "20 years of Life and Struggle of the MIR in Chile".

The poster has a red border on the left (facing) and bottom of the page. Above and to the right is a white box, featuring the black and white images of Che Guevara (created through a series of lines) and Miguel Enriquez. The text on the poster is in white, with the title along the left-hand side, and the names of those at the evening below, including Patricio Manns, Gabriela, Sergio Lidid, and a representative from MIR.

MIR (Revolutionary Left Movement in English) was a far-left Chilean political party and guerilla organisatoin. During the Pinochet Junta, members of the organisation undertook guerilla warfare tactics against the military and police, and many were killed, assassinated or 'disappeared'. The MIR was founded in 1965, suggesting that this poster is from around 1985.

Miguel Enriquez was a politician and founder of the MIR. He was murdered by the DINA (Pinochet's secret police) in 1974.

Ernesto "Che" Guevara, better known by his moniker, was an Argentinian revolutionary. He was instrumental in the Cuban revolution, and was assassinated in Bolivia in 1967 whilst working with guerilla forces there. He became a well-known face of left-wing, and especially Communist, sentiment from the 1960s onwards.
