Description
Poster, "Children of Chile That Was And Will Be", printed by the Chile Committee for Human Rights

The poster shows a black and white photograph of two children on a hay or straw bale. Underneath is the title, in red capitals, beneath which reads "Protect your light! Hold high your strong stalk of hope in the midst of the blind and fearful air..." a quote that, on the poster, is attributed to Neruda.

Pablo Neruda was a Chilean poet and diplomat associated with the Allende regime, which was overthrown in a violent military coup in 1973. Neruda died that same year, supposedly of cancer. He became a Communist whilst living in Spain and seeing first-hand the Spanish Civil War, during which time he helped to rehouse Spanish refugees to Chile.
