Description
Margaret Thatcher in a Santa Claus outfit steals stockings from the beds of frightened children. She has a sack labeled 'Thatch Co Stocking Reclamation'.
This is an invitation to the launch of a National Museum of Labour History exhibition called "Cartoons for the Cause" in December 1986, which presented political cartoon art from across the centuries. The design was drawn by the English political cartoon artist Steve Bell who's work was also represented in the exhibition alongside Victorian cartoonist George Cruikshank.
Bell's art style often features caricatures of politicians, coupled with commentary about their policies. He became prominent as an artist during the Thatcher era, and has drawn for Time Out magazine, and The Guardian newspaper.
The National Museum of Labour History is the former name for the People's History Museum.
