Description
A red poster. Text in white and black: 'Some People Are Lesbians. Get over it.' The Stonewall logo is in the bottom right corner.
This poster was created by Stonewall as part of their 'Get over it.' campaign. Vibrant red posters relating to each identity that Stonewall lobbied on behalf of at the time of production (Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans). The bluntness of the messaging was a significant departure from campaigning which attempted to humanise LGBTQIA+ people and ask for acceptance, instead informing the viewer that people with this identity exist and there is nothing that can or should be done to change that.
Stonewall is an LGBTQIA+ campaigning group, originally founded in 1989. They campaign on freedom and equity for LGBTQIA+ people across the UK and globally. Stonewall campaigns have included lobbying against Section 28 legislation, in favour of equal marriage and improving fertility healthcare access for LGBTQIA+ people.
