Tatchell retrial over Islamic protest

People
OutRage!

Date
1996

Description
OutRage! was a queer direct action group formed in May 1990 and active until 2011. Its aims were to assert the human rights of LGBTQIA people; to fight homophobia, discrimination and violence; and to affirm rights to sexual freedom and self-determination. This press release refers to a trial that took place when OutRage! activist Peter Tatchell was arrested in London for alleged obstruction of the highway whilst demonstrating against Hizb ut Tahrir, an Islamic fundamentalist group that advocates for the murder of LGBTQIA people. The press release asks for donations to support OutRage!'s legal fees.
