Gay Sweatshop was a theatre group founded in London in 1974, with the aim to âmake heterosexuals aware of the oppression they exercise or tolerate, and expose and end media misrepresentations of homosexuals.â Over two decades, the group produced and performed political plays in the UK and Europe. The company was disbanded in 1997.
