Description
Salisbury and The Plain Ordnance Survey Map from 1983 with highlighted circles around "West Down Plantation", "East Down", and "Blackball Firs" on Salisbury Plain.

These locations were used by the UK and US militaries for housing cruise nuclear missiles during the 1980s. Protesters from peace camps at RAF Greenham Common, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and others would blockade roads and form human chains to stop the vehicles transporting the missiles, known as 'Cruisewatch'.
