Another Mother for Peace (AMP) is an anti-war campaign group founded in 1967 to oppose the US war in Vietnam, following the first birthday party of founder Barbara Avedon's son, when she voiced her fear that she would raise him only to send him to war. An initial group of 15 women formally started AMP as a result with its mission to "educate women to take an active role in eliminating war as a means of solving disputes between nations, people and ideologies.' The sunflower logo was designed and donated by Lorraine Schneider. After the end of the war in Vietnam, AMP campaigned against the nuclear arms race, before becoming inactive in 1979. At the beginning of the war in Iraq in 2003, the organisation was reestablished by Joshua Avedon and Carol Schneider, the son and daughter of the original founder and the logo's artist respectively.
