Description
A yellow and black badge. On the yellow half the writing is black, and the black half has yellow writing. It says 'Cannock Miners Wives Support Group. Fighting For Jobs'.

This badge was created by women in Cannock who were part of the local Miners' Wives support group. These groups were set up in pit towns for women who's husbands were striking during the national Miners' Strike in 1984-1985. Miners and their families weren't eligible for state support, and many families struggled to keep their families sustained, so women in these communities organised mutual aid to striking families including providing hot food and grocery parcels, organising clothing drives, and in some cases went to picket lines to support the strike. After the strike the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) said that the strike wouldn't have endured for as long as it did without the support of the women in these communities.
